The Great Escape

Well I knew the day MIGHT come someday, I just didn’t realize it would be this soon. My son is 15 months old and managed to escape from his crib. This is not something I expected this early and it was a pretty scary moment for BOTH of us.

I put him to bed as normal in his crib and off I went to finish up my normal evening chore routine. Well he usually sleeps for 45 to 60 minutes and wakes up…….I have no idea why but he does. I normally go and just plug his binky back in and lay him back down and off to sleep again he goes.

Well night before last was different……

We have a video monitor in his room (camera points right at his crib and you can see him on the handheld unit screen) and hear him also. Well this only works when you are WATCHING the monitor!

I go in the shower and hand it off to my husband…….He sets it on the table and was doing a couple things nearby. Well all of a sudden we hear him crying over the monitor (I’m just getting out of the shower) and it’s not a normal wimper cry like when he loses the binky at night, it’s a cry cry. So hubby goes running up the steps (Our bedrooms are upstairs) and there he is standing in the middle of his room.

He stopped crying when I came upstairs and held him and kinda just looked around. Well I stripped his jammies off looking to see if he hurt himself and there was nothing…..not one red mark on him. I think he really scared himself more than anything.

I have no idea how he got out but thank god he didn’t get hurt. On the side of his crib there is a gap and then a dresser. Thank god he didn’t get out on the side and fall inbetween them and bang his head.

Well when all was said and done I rocked him back to sleep and he went back in the crib and my ears were now tuned wide open listening for any sound.

Next day Daddy headed to Baby Depot and purchased the Great Escape Preventor………a Crib Tent. Well this thing is a contraption in itself. Looks like a big dome on the crib but I guess it does the job. Now my only problem is every time I go to zip this stupid thing it wakes him up! My child likes to be held and is not crazy about sleeping in the crib (I know my fault but he’s my first what can I say) so any sound out of the ordinary wakes him.

I get him to sleep, lay him ever so gently in the crib and “Zipppppppppp Zipppppppp” CHILD IS UP….pick up, get him back to sleep, lay him ever so gently in the crib again “Zippppppp Zipppppppp” CHILD IS UP! Pick him up, cuddle in our cozy chair and both go to sleep peacefully. Four hours later……manage to get out of the cozy chair SLOWLY, lay him ever so gently in the crib again “Zippppp Zippppp Zipppp (making progess here and might actually be able to go back in my own bed)” Zippppp Zippppp (almost) Zippppp CHILD IS UP!
Pick him up, rock him, child is asleep, lay him in the crib (gently) Look at the Zipper……tip toe out and crawl in my bed for about 30 minutes before I have to get up and get ready for work!

Is this Crib Tent really the answer ?!?!?!?!

True or False?

I heard about this website on the radio that tells you if the rumors you hear are true or false…….I thought this one was pretty neat! Make a note in your purse and take it with you to the grocery store!

True or False ?

You can tell which day a loaf of bread was baked by the color of the plastic twist tag

TRUE - When you go to buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever squeezed the bread for freshness or softness? Well bread is delivered fresh to stores 5 days a week…Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has a different color twist tie. They are:

Monday – Blue
Tuesday – Green
Thursday – Red
Friday – White
Saturday – Yellow

Enjoy fresh bread when you buy bread with the right color on the day you are shopping!

Here is the site if you want to check it out…….It has a lot of neat stuff Urban Legends

Happy Mother's Day

This will be my 2nd Mother's Day and it still feels strange that I am a "Mom Mom". In the past it was always routine on what we would get our mom's on this day......a nice card and flowers. They never wanted anything more........

My husband asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day which seemed strange. Not that he asked me but that I am a MOM. I still sometimes am not use to it I guess. Don't get me wrong I LOVE it but after being married for almost 15 years before my son was born, it still is hard to believe that this little pumpkin is actually our's.

Oh how life has changed since he was born.

That sentence deserves a line of it's own LOL.......We had normal routines, came and went as we pleased, slept till whenever on the weekends, well you get the idea! How that all abruptly came to an end LOL......But you know what? I wouldn't change it for anything in the world. In a way I wish we had him earlier but God had different plans. We enjoyed just "our" time together and I guess you can say, we did our thing. Now it's not just us anymore, we have this little person that we are now responsible for.......oh how that reality sometimes still overwhelms me to this day.

I thank God for him everyday and I know he will help me to teach him the best I can. So for all the other mom's out there, I would just like to say "Happy Mother's Day" to you all! I hope you enjoy the day with your family!

Ask my son to see his big mouth and the above is what you'll get! This seems to be his new thing LOL......if you even MENTION the word mouth, he will do this. He opens it as wide as he can and believe me, he really gives an effort when he does this! So here I was sitting at the table taking his picture. He realized after I take a picture, he could see himself on the screen of the digital camera.......well he got pretty excited about it, so he began to "pose" (without me even asking!) waiting for me to take the picture again..... So I said...Paul....come on, smile nice for the camera and I got this :-)

But I only got one of those poses because this one obviously is more fun!

I'm Still Here!

Not sure if anyone missed me or not :0) as I haven't posted in awhile but things have been alittle busy lately. Hubby had surgery last week on his sinuses so I was alittle pre-occupied with tending to not one but two babies :-) Well maybe it wasn't THAT bad but you know how men are! And then we celebrated hubby's birthday yesterday so that was a busy day also. Everything should settle down now again so I can start reading and posting again! I hope everyone has been good and I'll visit everyone again shortly!
