Sand and Stone

Two friends were walking through the desert, during some point of the journey, they had an argument; and one friend slapped the other one in the face.
The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand....

"Today my best friend slapped me in the face"

They kept on walking, until they found an oasis, were they decided to take a bath

The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone.....

"Today my best friend saved my life"

The friend who had slapped and saved his bestfriend asked him... "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on stone, why?"

The friend replied..."When someone hurts us we should write it down in the sand, where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."

Learn to write your hurts in the sand and to carve your benefits in stone

Smarter than you think

Lately my son's most favorite thing in the whole world is "Italian Ice" or IICCCEEEEEE as he calls it. He walks around all day, ICEEEE ICEEEEE ICEEEEE which is also a new word that he just learned so that makes it even more fun to say.

I try not to mention "the word" especially in the early morning hours or right before supper or lunch for that matter because than he wants some. Anyways, the other day we went shopping down to Lowe's. This is now his new favorite store because they carry MOWERS ya know and there is nothing better than mowers altho weedwackers, snowblowers, pressure washers and vacuums come in a close 2nd (next to ice)

I usually let him pick out a mower and he get's to sit on it

And drive it

And blow the horn

It makes him happy and that's what matters

So after the trip to Lowe's we stopped at "Rita's" - I'm not sure if this place is all over in different states, but here where I live, Rita's specializes in Italian Ice, it's her thing.

What more could a toddler ask for........a trip to Lowe's and than ICE to top it all off!

So the next morning I am telling my mother-in-law what we did that night. I said we stopped at Rita's and got.........and I paused because I didn't want to say "the word" because after all, it was only 6:45 AM and, well, it was to early for "the word"

So I (trying to be clever) decide to spell it.... I - C - E

No sooner did I spell it and he chants ICEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Ok so he's 18 months and can spell, should I be worried? Well only around lunch or dinner I suppose, or at 6:45 AM

Toddler's Menu

How in god's name do I get my toddler to try new foods????? He is a VERY picky eater! I offer him new food's all of the time....He looks at them, shakes his head no and says....nah. So I say JUST TRY IT .....shakes his head no again while saying ....NAH.

So I thought, Ok, I'll sneak something new in (cause I'm sneaky like that) I cut everything up nice, in bite size pieces. He starts to eat what he recognizes (and likes) and suddenly spots the "new" food. He picks it up, looks at it and drops it off the side of his highchair tray. So I say JUST TRY IT.......Nah and proceeds to drop off the rest of the not so familiar food off the side of the tray.

If I pick it up and put it back he now tosses it with a little more force off the tray. If I pick it up yes again He starts crying if I put it back again.

So now your saying, well just put all new foods and he will have to eat atleast one of them. Well I've tried that and he looks and starts crying and pushing it all off his tray. So now I have a hungry, crying toddler that wants to EAT NOW

Maybe it's just a phase, which I'm hoping it is and he will eventually start trying/eating new foods.

Heck I was in my 30's before I actually started liking cauliflower!

Vacation

Hello everyone! I've been just taking it easy for awhile since we got back from vacation. Our little guy really liked the beach just not the ocean. He was pretty afraid of the waves.....they were loud so I can see why he was afraid. Anyways, we played on the beach and swam in the pools. They had a little kiddie pool which was cute and a bigger pool. He liked both of them.... we visited the aquarium on the boardwalk which I enjoyed but it didn't hold Paul's interest that long. A few things did but not much...... On the way home we stopped by the Drive Thru Safari at Great Adventure. Now THAT was neat! He liked it but I think alot was because he didn't have to sit in the carseat going thru it.....he was able to sit on daddy's lap for a good 1 1/2 hrs "driving"! I have lots more to tell which I'll do soon but here are a few pictures from out trip.
